West University daily crime summary, Oct. 19-24

The West University Police Department reported the following incidents from Friday to Wednesday, Oct. 19-24:

ACCIDENT
Oct. 19, 4:58 p.m.: A minor accident was reported in the 4000 block of Bellaire, where an unknown suspect allegedly hit a vehicle and did not leave any indentification information.

BURGLARY OF A MOTOR VEHICLE
Oct. 21, 11:10 a.m.: A burglary of a motor vehicle was reported in the 3900 block of Marlowe.

Oct. 22, 12:51 p.m.: A burglary of a motor vehicle was reported in the 3100 block of Bissonet. Upon arrival, officers discovered that the victim's rear window was broken and an empty military ammunition can was reported stolen.

DRIVING WHILE INTOXICATED
Oct. 21, 12:05 a.m.: An officer conducted a traffic stop on an unmoving vehicle at Sunset and Buffalo Speedway to check the welfare of the driver. As the officer approached the vehicle, the driver allegedly began to drive off and refused to stop for several blocks. Officers made contact and reported that the driver was intoxicated. The driver was arrested on charges of driving while intoxicated and evading.

IDENTIFY THEFT
Oct. 21: A report was made at the police station for potential identity theft. The complainant told officers that someone attempted to file a tax return using his Social Security number.

UNLAWFUL CARRY OF A WEAPON
Oct. 21, 2:41 a.m.: A man was stopped by an officer for walking in the roadway where there is an available sidewalk. The officer reports that the man was found to be in possession of a handgun. A check of the handgun revealed that it was allegedly stolen in Houston. The suspect was arrested on a charge of unlawful carry of a weapon.

No crimes were reported by the West University Police on Saturday, Oct. 20 or Tuesday, Oct. 23.
