St. John's High School grad Bashen plays in Purdue loss
St. John's High School grad Blair Bashen played Friday, Nov. 16, but Purdue University fell 3-0 to Ohio State in women's volleyball action, according to Purdue's website.
Bashen is a senior at Purdue, and her team lost 19-25, 27-29 and 11-25 at Holloway Gymnasium in West Lafayette.
The next contest for Purdue University is 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, at home against Penn State.
At St. John's, Bashen was a three-year letter-winner in volleyball. She was named all-conference each of last two years and led the team in blocks during her sophomore campaign. She was a team captain her senior year for the volleyball and basketball teams, in addition to being a four-year varsity starter in basketball. Bashen garnered the athletic excellence award for basketball after her junior year and was a two-time letter-winner in track and field. She also was a varsity cheerleader for two years. Bashen is the daughter of Janet and Stephen Bashen. She is majoring in computer science.
