Lamar grad Bonney contributes 15 points to Elon victory over Furman
Josh Bonney, a graduate of Lamar High School, is a senior guard for the Elon University men's basketball team.
Lamar High School graduate Josh Bonney contributed 15 points in Elon's 73-59 home win over conference rival Furman on Thursday, Jan. 17 at Alumni Gym in Elon, N.C., Elon's website reported.
The Elon University senior guard also recorded three rebounds, two assists and one steal for the Phoenix, who improved to 10-7 on the season and 3-2 in the Southern Conference.
Elon's next game is 7 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19 at home against Wofford.
Bonney played high school basketball at Lamar for coach Dennis Gillespie from 2004-2008. He was a first-team all-district, all-city and All-Region III honoree while also being chosen to play in the 2008 HABCA All-Star game. Bonney also led Lamar to the 5-A State Championship Regional Semifinal. He is the son of Jerry (former Parade All-American) and Rose Bonney.
