Lamar grad Bonney scores 4 points in Elon victory

Lamar High School graduate Josh Bonney scored four points in Elon University's 63-62 win over conference rival Samford University on Feb. 21, according to Elon's website.

The senior guard also recorded one rebound and three assists for the Phoenix who improved to 19-8 on the season and 12-3 in the Southern Conference.

Elon's next game is 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23 on the road against the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga.

Bonney played basketball at Lamar High School for coach Dennis Gillespie from 2004 to 2008. He was a first-team all-district, all-city and all-region III honoree while also being chosen to play in the 2008 Houston Area Basketball Coaches Association all-star game. Bonney also led Lamar to the 5-A state championship regional semifinal.
